Grieving for My FurBabies

In the 34 years Bill and I have been together we have had 3 furbabies.  Since Whitey's passing I have been having a hard time sleeping.  I have been grieving not only for Whitey, but for Patch and Bullitt too.  I thought I would share some photos of all my girls and a little bit about them.

Our friends knew us so well.  They would find stuff animals of our girls

Meet Bullitt
Oh my gosh, Bully was the funniest dog ever.  She was a couch potato who hated to go for walks.  However, when we took her to the desert with us she would run and play.  Bullitt would get the sillies and run all over the house making grunting noises.  She would haul ass down the hall and couldn't make it around the corner and would run into the wall and take off again for our bedroom.  She would then jump on the bed and run laps on the king size bed.

Bullitt was a "Sun Goddess" many times I would go into the kitchen and she would be on top of the dining room table having the sun rays hitting her and her eyes squinted.  She loved to sit up high and you could find her in the backyard sitting on top of the BBQ.  When we first moved into our house a neighbor kid knocked on our door and told us their was a animal in our backyard.  I told him our dog was in the backyard and he told me he would show me the animal.  We went to the backyard and there sat Bully and he pointed to her and said see it's an animal not a dog.

When Anna was born I was worried about her and Bullitt.  Bullitt had never been around children.  Bullitt's first love was her stomach and babies drop food.  Bullitt and Anna became best friends.  Bullitt sat in Anna's car seat, stroller, and carrier.  Bullitt couldn't get in her crib so she would get under the crib.  More times I would find Anna and Bullitt asleep on the floor next to each other.   Bullitt lived until she was 15 years old.

Meet Patch and Whitey

I'm putting these two together since they are mother and daughter.  We got Patch when she was 6 months old.  She was a wonderful dog and very protective of Bill, Anna and I.  4 months after we got her we went on vacation.  Patch sat up all night looking out the tent window making sure we were safe.

Bill was a runner and he would take Patch running.  They would go 6 plus miles a day.  Bill swore while they were running she would look back at him and smile. Bill logged his miles and Patch and Bill would run over 2,000 each year.  Patch would ride on Bill's gas tank of his motorcycle in the desert or would run along with him.  Patch was very elegant and gentle.

I decided to try my luck at breeding and I breed Patch with a Jack Russell named Blaze who looked so much like her.  One morning at 2am Patch woke me up and grunted then hopped off the bed and went into our walk in closet where I had a bed set up for her to give birth.  Oh my this was it she was going to have her puppies.  I grabbed my pillow and laid down in the closet while she did all the work.  I just rubbed her back and belly.  Patch had 5 healthy pups (Whitey was #4).  After watching her go through hours of labor to have the 5 beautiful puppies I found that breeding was not for me.  Yep, I'm a wuss. Patch also lived for 15 years.

Whitey was a very special little girl and the first dog we had since birth.  She was my shadow following me everywhere.  I had five doggie beds throughout the house so Whitey also had a place to lay down. Whitey was afraid of other animals (except for squirrels and pigeons).  Whitey loved to go for walks but hated to drive in the car.  This past July when we first came to Utah to look for property Whitey made the road trip with us.  We had the Tahoe filled and she sat up high right behind the drivers seat and she made the road trip with no problems.

Whitey would get under the sofa with her toys and make grunting and growling noises.  Whitey loved yogurt and would go nuts when you were eating it and then lick the container clean.  We moved to Utah in the dead of winter I was worried about her with the snow but she loved it.  She had no problem going out in the weather and she loved eating the snow too.  Whitey did not like squeaky toys but loved the rope toys the bigger the better.  Whitey always looked like a puppy and people would ask how old she was and they were shocked to find out that she was far from being a puppy. I was in Malibu a few years back with Whitey and we ran into Brad Garrett.  He played and petted Whitey.

All my girls were special and brought so much joy to our family.  We are so blessed to have these memories.  Our hearts still have room for more love so we are looking to fill that open space.

Happy Fathers Day

It was a wonderful Father's Day even though it rained half the day.  Bill wanted Pizza it made it easy for me I just had to call it in and pick it up.  Bill loved his presents.  On Bill's mother's side of his family he is Chickasaw Indian.  We got him a Chickasaw hat, decal, coffee mug and a book about the Chickasaw Nation.  I even printed off an application so he can apply for Chickasaw Citizenship.  His grandmother was born on the reservation in Oklahoma.
Until Next Time,

PRCA Championship Rodeo

Saturday night Bill, Anna and I went to the PRCA Championship Rodeo.  We had a great time and I hope they have the rodeo more than once a year.  This was Bill and Anna's first rodeo.  I think we will be going to Vegas for the PBR.
The Steer Wrestling was fun to watch
Anna was in awe of the Saddle Bronc Riding

We all got a kick out of the Cash Cow.  They put dollar bills all over a calf and let the kids chase it around trying to get the cash off the cow.
I love the Bull Riding and this is one rough and dangerous event.   The first young man Brian Curtis was thrown from the Bull and was severely injured.
Please join our family in keeping Brian Curtis and his family in your prayers

Utah Summer Games Opening Ceremony

Last night was the opening ceremony for the Utah Summer Games.  Anna and I got to the SUU Stadium  a little after 7pm and the program started at 8:30pm.  Just as we were pulling into the parking lot it started pouring down rain.  We sat in the car until it passed.  We then picked up our tickets at Will Call and found our seats which were perfect.   Once we were seating it only rained a couple more times and it was a light rain.

Getting there early was great we were able to watch the BMX performers practice and I was able to get some nice shots of them.  During the performance there were so many kids that you could not even find the BMX riders so I am glad I got photos during their practice.

The athletes were brought in just like they do for the Summer Olympics.  It was so much fun watching the kids they were having a great time. (Notice the scary clouds)

Utah only has one professional sports team and that is the Utah Jazz Basketball Team.  I'm a big Football Fan so for me it was hard to get excited over basketball.  Let me tell you I have never seen so many people get excited for the appearance from the Utah Jazz "Bear" Mascot.  He arrived on the field via a Zip Line, he rode his motorcycle through fireworks, he gave out balls, T-shirts and other fun stuff and he rode around on his segway.  Not only were the kids going crazy so were the adults.

They also had a SLC band The Party Crashers performing top 40 hits and a few song I knew from the 1980's.  Everyone was singing and dancing.

They had a wonderful presentation for the Troops that had just been deployed out of Southern Utah.  For the lighting of the Flame they had servicemen carry the flame.  It brought tears to my eyes.  They had a servicemen from Iraq, Vietnam, Korea and WWII.  They ended the ceremony with patriotic songs and a wonderful fireworks display.

Notice - If I had my camera on the correct settings and had a tripod these photos would have been so much better.

Next stop is the Rodeo we were suppose to go tonight but I changed it to Saturday night.

Toddlers & Tiaras Party - Guilty Pleasure TV

I am not much of a "Reality TV" Fan.  I do watch Project Runway and So You Think You Can Dance.  I like the shows that have a job attached to them and in the case of SYTYCD there is no back biting.  However, my family and I do have two Guilty Pleasures when it comes to the Reality shows.  Toddlers & Tiaras and My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.  They are like a train wreck you can't help but look.

My daughter had the idea of doing a Toddlers & Tiaras Party for the first show.  She made T-Shirts for all of us.  My husband is such a good sport.  He put on the T-shirt, Nee Nee and Tiara.  I love him!  We had all the sugar to give us a nice buzz.  Including the Red Bulls and Pixie Stixs.  Here are photos of the fun we had while watching the show.

After Toddlers & Tiaras we watch So You Think You Can Dance.  For the first night I thought everyone danced very well some stood out more than others.  My two favorites were paired together and I thought they danced the best tonight. Love ya Marko and Melanie.

Trip to St. George and a Side Trip Home

Today was our monthly trek to St. George to go to Costco, Target and Five Guys Burgers and Fries.  Bill joined Anna and I for our trip.  We are stocked up on all the household stuff.  We took the scenic route home it took a tad bit of a longer  but the drive was well worth it.

We stopped by the Baker Dam Reservoir

There were only 3 people fishing once we before legal in Utah (we still have our California drivers license) we are going to come back to this spot and go fishing.

Anna had never seen a white cow so she snapped a photo
